Entry Management
Access Control Systems give business owners a powerful tool for managing entry to their facility.
While there are many manufactured brands, all of the access control systems have at least these three common components: Controller, Reader, and a Locking Mechanism.
Whether your need is control entry access for a single point or multiple points of entry throughout multiple locations, we have an entry access control solution to fit the needs of your organization. If managing access to entry or other sensitive areas within your building is one of your business concerns, contact us to schedule a no-obligation consultation.
Access Control Basics
System Components
The Control processes all unlock requests to determine whether the user’s credentials match those required for the specified door entry point. The controller will either grant and log the request, or deny and log the request.
Readers are available in several common technologies:
Magnetic Strip, Proximity, and Biometric. These formats indicate how the user’s credentials are sent to the controller for validation.
Locking mechanisms fall into two primary categories, Electronic Strike and Magnetic Lock.
Electronic Strikes are installed in the door jamb.
Magnetic locks come with two pieces, a magnet and a plate. During the installation, one piece is mounted to the door while the other piece is mounted to the door frame. The door to be controlled typically will dictate the type of lock mechanism that will be used.
The Benefits
A Valuable Investment
There are several key benefits to the business that invests in an Entry Access Control System.
First, the system can be tailored to your needs. Many organizations have employees that require 24/7 access, while other employees only need daytime access.
And within those two groups of employees, you may have key personnel that needs access to sensitive areas within your facility.
The software’s easy-to-use customization tools allow you to manage the people flow through your building while maintaining a complete and detailed record of their activity.
Second, access control can keep unauthorized visitors away from your employees and their workstations. This helps to promote a more productive workplace while providing increased safety and security.
Lastly, you can experience cost savings. The loss of a physical key to your building can create an untimely and unplanned expense to your company.
Consider the situation where an employee quits or is terminated and the keys they were issued are not returned. What about the employee that loses their company-issued keys. Your business would be stuck with the cost of making new keys and possibly changing the locks.
But, with access control, electronic keys can be replaced easily if lost. In the case of the employee that’s terminated or quits, the business can simply remove the electronic keys from their system.
